Connecting Kern County Residents with Help, Resources, and Support

Sometimes everyone needs a little help — and that’s exactly what the Hope & Resource Fair is all about.

The Hope & Resource Fair is a community event designed to connect individuals and families with vital services available right here in Kern County. Organized in partnership with McWilliams & Walden and The Mission at Kern County, this event brings together nonprofits, service providers, and community organizations to provide direct support to those who need it most.

The fair focuses on serving low-income and homeless individuals, but anyone in need of assistance is welcome to attend.

By bringing dozens of resources together in one place, the event makes it easier for people to connect with services that can help improve their lives.

Hope & Resource Fair

🗓️ Date: April 18

Time: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

📍 Location:

The Mission at Kern County

821 E 21st St, Bakersfield, CA

This free community event will provide access to essential services, helpful information, and resources designed to support individuals and families throughout Kern County.

Attendees will also receive free lunch while supplies last.

Resources Available at the Fair

More than 20 community organizations and service providers are expected to participate, offering a wide range of assistance and resources.

Services may include:

  • Mental health and psychiatric wellness resources
  • Addiction recovery programs
  • Community support services
  • Housing assistance resources
  • Information about local nonprofit programs
  • Connection to additional Kern County assistance programs

The goal is simple: bring as many helpful services as possible into one location so people can easily access the support they need.

Free Hygiene Kits for Attendees

One of the major goals for this year’s event is providing hygiene kits to every attendee.

These kits contain essential everyday items that many people take for granted, including:

  • Deodorant
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Hairbrush
  • Shampoo and conditioner

For individuals experiencing homelessness or financial hardship, basic hygiene items can be difficult to obtain regularly. These kits help provide comfort, dignity, and confidence.

Organizers hope to collect enough donations so every attendee can leave the event with a hygiene kit.

A Growing Community Effort

The first Hope & Resource Fair was held last year and made a significant impact in the community.

More than 600 people attended the inaugural event, connecting with local organizations and receiving much-needed assistance.

This year, organizers anticipate up to 1,000 attendees if weather conditions cooperate.

Interest from local organizations has also grown, with more vendors committing early to participate and offer resources.

The event continues to grow because of the generosity and collaboration of businesses, nonprofits, volunteers, and community members across Kern County.
